Members News and Reports:
Ken Barston reffered to The Deal meeting held in Ashton. He had considered making a funding application but decided that, if regular maintenance cannot be guaranteed, it wasnt worth bidding.
Mary Pennington disseminated the Archaeology Society newsletters for September and October, which provide a useful update on their work at Kirkless.
Derek Wilde reported on the societys continuing work recording graves, including those at St Annes in Shevington, the My Life project at Standish Equestrian Centre, ongoing work in Hindley and a variety of enquiries with the Help Desk of the Museum of Wigan Life on Monday afternoons.
John ONeill reported on the recent annual Thank You meeing at Greenheart, in association with Lancashire Wildlife Trust, on the theme Healthy Communities, and plans for a visitor centre to be developed at Wigan Flashes.
Any Other Business:
John ONeill allerted members to the importance of Wigan Councils fortcoming Allocations Plan, including its Open Spaces, Sports & Recreation Assesment report - open to public consultation from mid-October (see Councils website for more information). Note essay compitition awards at the next meeting.
